Waiting
Written by Gary Melvin : © 2008 No Need to Speak Music (BMI)
Long days and nights
That stretch on for years
Patience keeps me company
While time disappears
Some would say we’re holding out
For a fantasy
But what’s the use in making do
When I dream of making love with you?
I’ve been waiting for a lover to rise
Rise up and show me
I’ve been waiting for a woman to shine
Shine down and set this poor boy free
Long day of flying
That puts her in reach
But I keep my distance from this powerful maybe
Convinced that I shouldn’t speak
Could she be my saving grace
That I’m failing to see?
But what’s the use in dreaming loud
If I let this angel walk away from me?
I’ve been waiting for a lover to rise
Rise up and show me
I’ve been waiting for a woman to shine
Shine down and set this poor boy free
You couldn’t let me go
I guess I should’ve known
You shook the world ’round me
Funny how these things work out
Thank God you let it out
‘Cause this is what love should be
I’ve been waiting for a lover to rise
Rise up and show me
I’ve been waiting for a woman to shine
Shine down and set this poor boy free
