Guitar Nerdyness Alert

I accidentally discovered a new (to me) tuning today and I’m in love with it. Immediately after finding it a song started coming out. For those interested in what the tuning is, here ya go:
D A D G A E (low to high)
I’ve always loved how a guitar sounds in tunings other than standard. Part of it has to do with the obvious fact that it simply sounds different than standard which I’m used to hearing, but there’s also a transformation in the way the guitar resonates. It’s hard to describe in words, but it’s like the wood breathes differently and all these new characters come out of the instrument.
It also makes me really appreciate what music does for me. After spending over half my life playing and studying guitar, I still find new things about it, and it still excites me just as much as it always has, if not more.
Pretty cool, if you ask me.
